A Recap Of XXIX World Winter Universiade
The XXIX World Winter Universiade is a sports tournament for international students across the world. This youth competition took place from 2nd March 2019 to 12th March 2019 in the city of Krasnoyarsk.
This tournament is governed under the authority of International University Sports Federation (FISU). There are many benefits for the students participating in Universiade.
Detention Girls – A Case
First mention goes to detention girls – ladies known for stirring things up. They are misbehaving, they are bratty and they have controversial activities up their sleeves. 2019 Winter Universiade
This Winter Universiade is the third installment of the game that was hosted by Russia. 2019 Universiade is the first winter Universiade tournament hosted by Russia as an independent country in the amazing city of Krasnoyarsk. The opening fire of the tournament was fired up by two tournament ambassadors, former gymnast Svetlana Khorkina and bandy player Sergey Romanov.
Sporting Events
In this tournament, there were a total of 11 sporting events. Athletes from all over the world participated in 76 sets of medals. The final medal tally chart was led by Russia with 41 Gold Medals followed by South Korea with 6 Gold Medals.
The results and a recap of the sporting events that were held in the tournament is mentioned below:
Alpine Skiing
There were four sub-divisions under this sports category. They are Super-G, giant slalom, slalom and combined format of the sports. In the medal tally, Russia won 4 gold medals followed by Austria with 3 gold medals.
Bandy
Bandy, informally known as Russian hockey, was included for the first time in the tournament. The men’s category was won by Russia followed by Sweden. In the women’s category, the game was won by Sweden followed by Russia.
Biathlon
There are four categories that of the tournament that was held in this sports event. They are 10 Km sprint, 20 Km individual, 12.5 Km pursuit and 15Km mass sprint. In this sporting event, Russia won 8 gold medals followed by Norway with one gold medal.
Cross-Country Skiing
This sport event also has four sporting events held under it. They are 10 Km classic, 10 Km free pursuit, free sprint, and 30 Km free mass start. In this sporting event, Russia won 9 gold medals followed by Japan with one gold medal.
Curling
This sporting event was won by Norway for the men’s category and by Sweden for the women category. This was followed by Canada (Men) and South Korea (Women).
Figure Skating
Under this category, medals were given under men’s and ladies singles, ice dancing, synchronized skating, and ice dancing. In this sporting event, Russia won 2 gold medals followed by Finland with a single gold medal.
Freestyle Skiing
In this sporting event, there were four sporting events. They are Aerials, Slope-Style, Moguls, Ski Cross, and Dual Moguls. Also, in this sporting event, Russia won 4 gold medals followed by Japan with 2 Gold Medals.
Ice Hockey
This game tournament was won by Russia for the men’s category and the women’s category was won by Russia too. They were followed by Slovakia (Men) and Canada (Women).
Ski-Orienteering
In this sporting event, there were three single events for both men and women and a single mixed event. Russia again leads the Medal charts with 4 gold medals.
Short Track Speed Skating
This sporting has four single events for both men and women. In this sporting event, South Korea won 5 gold medals followed by France with one gold medal.
Snowboarding
Under snowboarding, there were 5 single events. The charts were led by Russia with 6 gold medals and followed by South Korea with 1 gold medal.
This tournament is very much similar to the youth Olympics and any other junior sporting events.
All participating youth learn the value of hard work, teamwork, and sportsmanship. These values would help them become better in whatever they do.
